# # Playing with Identity Models and Race Cards
French philosopher Emile Chartier was quoted as saying, "Nothing is more dangerous than an idea when it's the only one you have." This is also true of viewpoints. Some questions that we should ask ourselves are, "In this professionally progressive region, have I stopped my journey when I arrived at the first "right" or comfortable answer in my quest to expand my cultural views? What practices or way of thinking has been successful for me in the past but may be limiting me from embracing the views of others right now?"

# # A "Deaf-Friendly" Interpreter: What is That?
The purpose of this workshop is to foster a greater understanding of Deaf cultural values and how they might shape an interpreter's decision-making at interpreting assignments. Through lecture & small-group activities, participants will learn of and explore specific attitudes and behaviors that will promote a better relationship with Deaf & non-Deaf people who use interpreting services.

# # "Who Said That?" Role Shifting in ASL and ASL Interpretation
Come join us for this all day, in depth, hands on workshop as we delve into role shifting in ASL! We will spend the morning on the exploration of and hands on practice utilizing role shifting in ASL, and then will focus on the application of what we learned in the morning to the interpreting process in the afternoon.

# Mentor Gathering
After seven weeks of mentoring, it's time to see how you're doing! Gather with other mentors, ask questions, share feedback and receive support as you guide mentees on their linguistic and interpreting journeys. Deaf and hearing mentors will meet together as a larger group as well as separately for in-depth discussion re their particular programs.

All are invited! There will be fun & games as well as Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and CODA presenters of various ages and ethnic backgrounds giving mini-presentations on poetry, stories, art, Salsa dance basics, songs in ASL, and more! Come out to socialize and experience everything the Super Spring Social will have to offer, all in a signing environment. Light refreshments will be provided.
