Target Audience:
Mentees, novice interpreters and interpreting students. Educational interpreters and faith-based interpreters are welcome!

Description:
Expand your knowledge and correct use of fingerspelling through guided hands-on practice! Experienced Deaf mentor, Terry Malcolm, will lead this small group practice session.

This work group focuses on PRACTICE - allowing you to work on your use of fingerspelling with support, guidance and plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

 
When and
Where:
April 14, 2010, 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM
The Learning Center for the Deaf 848 Central Street Framingham, MA, White House Conference Room
Parking Information:
The White House is the main administrative building at 848 Central Street.

From the West: 1. Take the Mass Pike east to exit 12 (Route 9 east). 2. Follow Route 9 east approx. 2 miles to Edgell Road exit. 3. Go up the ramp to the light and turn left. As you turn left, stay in the right lane as you cross over Route 9 -- you will now be on Edgell Road. 4. Go straight on Edgell Road for approx. 1/4 mile; then bear right onto Central Street. 5. The main entrance to the school is 300 yards up Central Street on the right.

From the East (Mass Pike): 1. Take the MASS PIKE to Exit 13 (Framingham / Natick). 2. After going through tolls stay right and get on Route 30 toward Framingham. 3. Follow Route 30 until it merges with Route 9 west. 4. Continue approx. 1/4 mile on Rte. 9. Turn right at first light onto Prospect Street at Walgreens. 5. Continue to the end of Prospect Street. Turn left onto Central Street. 6. TLC Main Entrance and driveway is on the left a few hundred yards down Central Street.

From the North: 1. Take 495 south to Mass Pike, east. 2. Follow "from the west" directions

1. Take 95/128 south (its the same road with 2 names) to Mass Pike west. 2. Follow "from the east" directions.

From the South: 1. Take Route 495 north to Mass Pike, east. 2. Follow "from the west" directions.

--or--

1. Take 95/128 north to Mass Pike, west. 2. Follow "from the east" directions.

--or--

1. Take Route 84 east to the Mass Pike, east. 2. Follow "from the west" directions.

Registration Deadline:
April 7, 2010; To register, please print registration form (see left navigation box) and mail in with fee. Register early as space is limited!

Reasonable Accomodations:
Requests for reasonable accommodations must be made in writing by March 8, 2010.
Cancellation Policy:
Fees paid for workshops are non-refundable. In the event of an emergency, fees paid may be applied to another workshop within the same fiscal year. If a workshop is cancelled and a back-up date (e.g., snow date) was not published, fees paid will be refunded.

About the Presenter
Terry Malcolm
Terry Malcolm, CDI, has been a Certified Deaf Interpreter since 1997 and Coordinator for ASL Mentorship for The Mentorship Program since 2007. She has mentored both ASL interpreters and Deaf interpreters for the past eight years, mentored educational interpreters in ASL for two years through the Educational Interpreters Mentorship Program, tutored hearing people one-on-one in ASL and taught ASL for families through MSADs Family Sign Language Program. In addition, she has worked for MCDHH as a Certified Deaf Interpreter since 2000. Terry enjoys working with individuals from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
